CAMPFIRE presents Kai Jones
Tuesday, August 8, 2023, 9:47 PM
Renowned 16-year-old pro skier Kai Jones headlines CAMPFIRE for an all-ages, outdoor, interactive storytelling event in the Virginian Courtyard. All are welcome.
CAMPFIRE reimagines how we gather as community. Each month, we bring in guest speakers for a unique, participatory storytelling experience, hosted in a subtly ritualized framework, to explore what most drives, moves and inspires us.
This month, our guest conversation partner is renowned professional skier Kai Jones.
Born and raised in the Tetons, Kai Jones has had a rapid ascent in the ranks of professional skiing. At age 9, Kai started competing in junior big mountain contests. Kai first won the North American Junior Freeride series when he was 11 years old. He was Nominated for Rider of the Year at IF3 Film Festival at 14 years old and then again at 15. Kai has now starred in 5 TGR films, including 2022' Magic Hour. Kai has been featured in the New York Times and on the Today Show.
Together, we'll explore what stokes Kai's love for moving in the mountains, how he summons courage in riding big lines, and how stepping into risk and harnessing resilience translates into living a larger life.

CAMPFIRE Gatherings are interactive, dynamic storytelling experiences that thrive on guest participation. Guests are encouraged to arrive early and stay late as we enjoy a festal 'communion' of food, libations, and conversation together. Above all, CAMPFIRE aims to create a space for anyone who craving meaningful connection.
CAMPFIRE also supports regular small-group meet-ups for individuals keen on deepening conversation and connection over meals, film and article discussion, and skiing / hiking forays into the backcountry.
A project of St. John's Episcopal Church, CAMPFIRE is an inclusive, celebratory community that affirms and honors the dignity and beauty of every human being.
