Meet Gracie Helms
From whence do you come? I come from a long line of Texans and fierce Texas Longhorn fans (Hook 'em!). I bopped around a bit as a young child (born in Baltimore, brief stint in Melbourne, and then a few years in Cleveland) before settling into Houston. Fun fact: Jimmy and I went to the same school growing up (St. John's School in Houston) and his amazing mom, Sylvia, was my middle school guidance counselor and truly everyone's favorite! No surprise there.
What's saving you? What's saving me these days is witnessing a true autumn for the first time. I am amazed by the leaves (my iPhone is quickly filling up with pictures of foliage) and the cool air in the mornings and evenings. Our pups (Bunny and Roo) seem elated to be out of the Texas heat! Mostly, what's saving me is the absolute joy of watching our 1-year-old Helen grow and change daily. She surprises us and makes us laugh every day. We can't believe how much we love her!
What are you longing for? It is hard to long for much living in this community, surrounded by so much beauty. My heart could burst with gratitude. My continual hope is to be fully present in a time of such change and newness. I'm so beyond happy (the whole Helms crew is) to be here in this special place with such amazingly kind and welcoming people.
