Simple Gestures
By Cindy Bartz
As a person who last year packed up a home and a family and moved it all to a town with a reputation for brutal winters, I’ve spent much more time on the RECEIVING end as opposed to the GIVING end of the love and care of the St. John’s community.
Though we’d mastered the art of Jackson Hole living as tourists, we Bartzes were total rookies at Jackson Hole living as full-time, year-round residents. We’ve needed a lot of support, and you have given it! You’ve fed us, entertained us, and picked us up when we’ve fallen (literally!). You’ve helped us find everything from medical care to ski repair. You’ve made us laugh and moved us to tears. You’ve graciously shown us the ropes and have quickly become our dear friends.
Most of these individual caring gestures were relatively simple – we can all do things like this as we go about our daily lives. But when you string together lots of simple caring gestures in the life of a family, their collective impact is huge! So thank you, St. John’s! And in response, I’ll be spending much more time on the GIVING end in the coming year.
