Teton Valley Laundry Love
The Laundry Love program in Teton Valley, Idaho began as an experiment to spread more love from St. John Church.
Deb and Kevin Hinkley, owners of General Laundry Co. in Victor are generous hosts, providing crock pots of chili in the cold months and treats to enjoy. We began in earnest in 2021 and the word started to spread in the Driggs/Victor community through monthly posts on the community Facebook site, flyers posted at the local markets and public announcement boards.
Families show up on a regular basis with their children in tow to help with the laundry chores and enjoy the library corner and other educational toys that Deb has carefully set up. Families say they’re saving $80 - $100 a month for their households.
One of the greatest joys in this mission is meeting an individual coming in from a long day of work, after commuting over the pass, bone-tired, arms full of laundry, and watching their faces light up as we tell them the laundry is free tonight.
Some evenings, the room is filled with men washing and folding. How lucky these families are to have a husband or dad there caring about the laundry! The evenings have a welcoming, warm energy. We hope this atmosphere keeps people coming back! The Victor Laundry Love is hosted on the fourth Wednesday of every month from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m.
