A Note of Thanks and Farewell
Dear St. John’s Family,
David and I want to share with you that after a great deal of prayer and soul searching, we have decided to leave Jackson and move to Idaho Falls. We sold our house in June and will be moving August 23rd to our new home.
Leaving Jackson is not easy. This has been home for a very long time for both of us. David came to town in the fall of 1976 to work at KMTN. I was born here to a mom who came to the valley in 1933. Every bit of our spiritual story is linked to St. John’s. I was born in the original St. John’s hospital here on our grounds. My sisters and I were all baptized in the little chapel when it was our main church. I was confirmed by the legendary Bishop Hunter and David and I were married there by Father Peter Snow. Our daughter, Amanda was one of Father Frank’s first baptisms after arriving in Jackson. Bronwyn is our first 21st century family member, also baptized here in 2006. All our family’s births and deaths have been acknowledged and celebrated here with all of you supporting us.
There are no words to express what this church and our beloved church family has meant to us over the years. We have shared life’s joys and sorrows, highs and lows. We have offered back the best we could by volunteering as a Vestry member, Building and Grounds committee, co-director of Christian Education, two different children’s choirs, Daughters of the King, Stephen Ministry and of course the choir. Countless wonderful memories like making Palm Crosses with Rita and Amanda, and many delicious potlucks. Not enough pancakes, but that is another story.
We will be back for visits and hope you will come see us. The office will have our new address and cell phone numbers. Please watch out for our daughter, Amanda and my sister, Rita. Bronwyn will be moving with us.
We will miss you and all the amazing miracles that go on here every day. Jimmy is one of the greatest blessings to come our way in a long time, so cherish and support him. He is just what we need. Keep dreaming big dreams! Treasure the rich and textured history of this amazing place, share the history and keep the energy flowing forward. If anyone is looking for a terrific historical project, reassemble the choir loft in our beautiful Chapel next door to help maintain its historic authenticity. Just a thought…
God bless you and keep you!
Love,
The Macfarlane’s
David, Vicky and Bronwyn
