Coming Together for Worship
Check out these helpful reminders for coming back together.
We are offering services at 8:00 am and 10:00 am in the Sanctuary. Please wear face masks (we will have masks available, if needed) and practice social distancing. Bring a cuppa tea or java as we cannot offer refreshments at coffee hour.
We will continue our Livestream on St. John’s Live at 10:00 am for those staying home.
What Parishioners Can Do
Know When To Stay Home: We encourage you to stay home if you are not comfortable with in-person gatherings for whatever reason. We especially want to encourage you to stay home if you fall into the “at risk” category. We realize that this is a personal decision and we will respect each other as we each make our own individual choice. We ask that you stay home if you have the following symptoms: cough, fever, shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle aches, loss of sense of smell or taste, flu symptoms.
Social Distancing: We will practice social distancing between people of different households by a minimum of six feet. We will arrange seating to make social distancing easy and straightforward. We will refrain from physical contact (shaking hands, passing the peace, and laying on of hands or blessings).
Practice Healthy Habits: We encourage you to practice good hygiene (wash your hands for 20 seconds, use hand sanitizer, sneeze into your elbow, avoid touching your face: eyes, nose and mouth). We ask that you wear a cloth mask as currently recommended by the CDC for faith communities.
Singing: There will be no congregational singing at this time.
What We Are Doing
Resources Provided: Hand sanitizer and masks will be provided for people who do not bring one.
New Practices: There will be no passing of offering baskets. Offering boxes will be located in the narthex. Bulletins will be provided by trained greeters. No coffee or snacks will be provided.
Staff and Volunteers: There will be a team of trained greeters and ushers to help people navigate safely around the grounds.
Facility Preparations: The facility will be cleaned prior to each worship service. Signs will be posted around the building regarding health and safety guidelines.
Response Plan: We have a response plan for if and when someone is exposed or has contracted COVID-19 through a St. John’s Church gathering. The response plan will be initiated to prevent further spreading of the virus. Please inform staff if you test positive after attending a church service.
Children and Youth: We are still considering how and when we can safely provide Sunday nursery care and Children’s Chapel. Until then, children must be supervised by parents at all times. Hansen Hall will be used as a family area, yet feel free to bring kids into worship with you in the sanctuary.
