Life Together (ish)
Life together at St. John’s in 2021 seemed a little more “together” than the previous year. With some creativity, we were able to bring back coffee hour. It was so wonderful to gather safely again.
On June 13, 2021, we hosted a “Family Reunion” to celebrate summer and being together again. The party included a catered meal with fried chicken, live music and was held outside on a beautiful, warm, sunny day. We also held our annual Stewardship Sunday brunch outside. In October, we enjoyed a pumpkin carving evening that was well attended by families. The St. John’s staff hosted coffee hour on Halloween, with trick-or-treating around the campus. We feasted during our traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas potlucks. It was so fun to be together and share meals.
The Flower Team decorated for Easter beautifully. The 8 a.m. service was held inside, and the larger 10 a.m. service outside. Volunteers helped pack doughnut holes in small bags, which were served after the service with coffee. There was also an Easter egg hunt for the kids and fortunately the weather was gorgeous.
The Flower Team and many volunteers decorated the sanctuary, narthex and Hansen Hall for Christmas. We had 225 poinsettias and a tall, beautiful Christmas tree in the narthex harvested by Will Davenport. Thanks to our volunteers and to Will. We were happy to have our Christmas services inside the building this year!
Our beloved Chapel of Transfiguration opened again for the summer season. Many thanks to those who served as ushers, lectors, altar guild, and acolytes at both The Chapel and in town. We are looking forward to welcoming new ushers and acolytes soon.
Love & Peace,
Pam
