Outdoor Challenge
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Coombs Outdoors
launched the Outdoor Challenge to encourage kids to get off their devices and use this time
to build healthy habits while continuing to engage with peers and mentors in a safe way.
The Coombs Outdoors Outdoor Challenge incorporates healthy competition to encourage kids to get off their devices and couch (something we are all guilty of) and use their extra time to build healthy habits and stay active. Participants stay connected with us through social media and weekly check-ins and earn points for each activity completed, from walks outside to art activities and writing letters to completing personal goals.
While Coombs Outdoors is still preparing for a normal, active summer, the Outdoor Challenge is a way to maintain communication with participants, encourage time spent outside, and maintain a support network for kids and families in need.
“Our primary objective during this extraordinary time is to serve the Coombs families in the most effective and helpful ways possible,”
said Mary Erickson, Executive Director, Coombs Outdoors. “It was a challenge to come up with creative ways to keep our kids active and engaged, while following our community social distancing guidelines. We are really excited to roll out these age appropriate challenges and look forward to continuing to connect with the kids in the weeks ahead.”
Visit the Coombs Outdoors website for program information for Elementary, Middle, and High School Challenges.
About Coombs Outdoors
Jackson Hole is known for its natural beauty and world-class outdoor sports. However, there is a large population of children from low-income families who do not have access to the same opportunities as their peers. In an effort to create a healthy community where all our children thrive, Coombs Outdoors provides year-round outdoor programming for youth from Kindergarten through high school graduation.
Community Matters
With your support, we continue to open our hearts and hands to the public during this time. Let us know how you (or someone you know) is making an impact by helping others.
