Surrender
During the season of Lent, we slow things down, we open things up, we become softer in our expressions in worship. We hope to become human beings who are a bit more open. Open to the suffering that we encounter on Good Friday, open to the mystery that we stumble into on Easter Sunday morning. We’re delighted to announce our Lenten theme—Surrender. Each of us will get a white flag.
So much of our culture is focused on self-sufficiency and self-reliance. Lent is an opportunity to empty ourselves so that we might reconnect with God and with humanity. Oftentimes that practice happens when we are struggling. A moment of surrender, a moment of radical acceptance, a moment of giving over—not giving up, giving over.
Won’t you examine with us over the next 40 days and some Sundays, allowing God, allowing others to meet you in that struggle. We’re grateful to be with you on this journey.
Lenten Theme
We drifted to survive
I needed you to stay
But I let you drift away
My love, where are you?
Whenever you're ready, whenever you're ready
Can we, can we surrender?
Can we, can we surrender?
I surrender
I just want you back
I'm running to your side
Flying my white flag, my white flag
